Fun Corporate Event Themes Your CEO Will Approve of… and Join!

If you’re a corporate event planner, your CEO may not immediately approve of just any idea.

Corporate events need to be strategically and creatively planned to help you build stronger relationships with your investors, clients, and employees.

Aside from meticulous planning, it often involves a significant budget. Here are some fun event themes that can get a go signal and positive RSVP from your CEO.

The Untraditional Executive Retreat

Elisa Farri from the Harvard Business Review narrates how she turned boring and ineffective executive retreats into engaging events.

In her reimagined format, executives became the facilitators. Participants were asked to do a role play where they pitched their ideas to a group of investors.

Using pre-selected questions as a springboard, executives were challenged to adopt the view of their investors and come up with creative solutions without hours of PowerPoint presentation planning. The retreat engaged participants and opened conversations for better collaboration.

The Escape Room Challenge

Escape Rooms are sure to get the adrenaline going and add competitive fun to your event. Participants are asked to solve a mystery or puzzle using riddles, hidden objects, and other clues in 1-2 hours. It’s a creative analogy for the workplace: you identify problems and create solutions with your team.

One fun Escape Room theme is Save the Boss, which role-plays a search and rescue operation. Your CEO is kidnapped by the competitor, and your team has to find him before time runs out!

Corporate Escape Rooms are usually done indoors or virtually and can accommodate hundreds of guests, which means they’re effective in any season of the year for companies of any size.

Team Bonding with Pets

If your CEO and colleagues are animal lovers, try planning a pet-themed corporate event. Here are some ideas:

  • Book a visit with therapy dogs from Canine Therapy Corps to energize your employees.

  •  If your CEO is a golf enthusiast, try Putting for Pets, which asks teams to compete and build golf holes made of pet supplies. After the event, the supplies will be donated to local animal shelters.

  • Paws for a Cause offers in-person and virtual one-of-a-kind experiences that let your team enjoy competitive games while creating pet toys for donation.

Pets are known to be the most loving de-stressors, offering your team a unique way to bond or be part of a good cause. Just make sure to ask ahead if anyone has allergies!

Music-Fuelled Experiences

Not everyone will be musically inclined, but it’s no secret that music has the power to bond people.

SongDivision, for instance, creates virtual and in-person sessions that engage teams and leaders of up to thousands. Their corporate events are led by qualified musicians and facilitators that allow participants with zero musical background to create songs, collaborate, and authentically connect with one another.

If your corporate event’s goal is to celebrate, you can also create unforgettable music-inspired experiences with themes like Ballroom, Moulin Rouge, or Mardis Gras. Invest in a good sound system and a weather-proof location, so your guests can party the night away.

Planning a corporate event that your CEO will love may take a bit of effort, but the enjoyable learning experience is a good investment for any company. Carefully research your CEO’s and colleagues’ preferences, so your idea has a higher chance to get approved.
